Gestreifter Fahnenbarsch

Widespread Indo-West Pacific and Red Sea, ranging into sub-tropical zones of Japan, Australia to Fiji, and South Africa. Some populations can tolerate temperatures below 15ºC. Rocky reefs, often with large caves or overhangs wheres swimming upside down on ceilings, usually in 30-80m depth. At all stages it can be recognised by the red lateral stripe, but large males may change colour during courtship when the red stripe is absent. Length to 20cm.
