Amerika (West)Widespread eastern Pacific from Galápagos Islands and Peru n the south, to Gulf of California and offshore in the Cocos and Clipperton Islands in the north. Forms massive schools in some places such as the Galápagos Islands. Adults in Galápagos greenish grey with a reddish tail, usually showing a series of white spots on back when on the bottom. Clipperton adult fish look somewhat different, being pale-blue whit red tail. Juveniles yellowish with a few dark spots on the back. Length to 25cm.
