Yellow Tail Wrasse

Widespread Indo-West Pacific. Clear coastal to outer reef habitats. Occurs at moderate depths of 10 or more metres along slopes and walls, often in soft coral or sponge habitats, but occasionally on shallow reef crests. Juveniles and females easily recognised by their white spotted body and bright  yellow tail, but males are easily confused with the male A.geographicus when seen underwater, except when displaying with iridescent blue-green lines and spots over their body and fins. Length to 22cm.
