Incredible Art Installations Used to Shine a Light on Reef Conservation
aoû . 17 / 2018

It's always great to see fantastic art, but when that art showcases the animals that we love, whilst also raising awareness for reef conservation, it certainly does warm the cockles!

This is exactly what the "Crochet Coral Reef" is doing. Margaret and Christine Wertheim of the "Institute For Figuring" instigated a project to crochet a woollen reef way back in 2005. Having grown up in Queensland, they have great reverence for the reef and its inhabitants and wanted to recreate it in their own Los Angeles living room! Soon the whole house was overrun with beautiful creations, and now it has become a global movement, engaging communities wherever it touches down.

The installations are simply incredible and, although they have added bleached and plastic reef items to the line-up, they are still beautiful to look at.

We, at TMC, love this idea, and we think you will too! More info in the link below.
