Océan Indien occidentalIndian Ocean, known from Maldives and northern Sumatra to off northern Western Australia. Occurs on reef outcrops on moderately deep slopes, away from drop-offs, subject to strong currents. Whilst shallow in Sumatra, in other places usually at depths of 40m or more. Females yellow, males more orange or red over the back. Caudal fin red with broad blue margin , the red red looks black in deep water. A small species reaching about 6cm in length.
