Week 4

This week Sir came with a bucket full of rocks. He explained that they are called live rocks and they have lots of creatures living on and inside the rocks. They came from someone else’s aquarium and had all the useful bacteria we needed to make our tank safe for fish and other animals. We broke up the larger pieces and filled up the filter part with the bits. When we put the rocks to the tank we saw a few tiny black starfish with long hairy legs. Sir said that they are called brittle stars and are very useful for cleaning up the extra food. They quickly disappeared under the rocks.
