Yellow Back Anthias

Widespread Indian Ocean, ranging east to Sumatra. Schooling species along upper parts of drop-offs and in outer reef lagoons. Feeds at various depths to near surface in pursuit of zooplankton. Readily identified by its pink (blue in natural light) and yellow colouration, similar to some of the fusiliers. Males tend to be more purplish in colour with numerous yellow spots in the dark areas. Length to 12m.
