Soapfish - Spotted

Widespread West Indies, north to Florida and Bahamas and south to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Reef habitats with coral rubble and sponges, often seen resting on the bottom. Adults pinkish to dusky brown and easily identified by the black spots scattered over the head and body. Juveniles with black lines and spots and the median fins black with broad white margins. Length to 18cm, but usually to 15cm.
