Blue Stripe Dwarf Parrot Hi-Fin

Philippines to southern Japan and Palau. Records of this species from Indonesia are based Paracheilinus flavianalis or hybrids P.flavianalis  X filamentosus P.carpenteri is closely related to P.moccoskeri and P.flavianalis and can be distinguished from both these species by the red ventral fins of fully coloured males or an extra short stripe above the belly. Females occur in small groups, with males usually nearby, on rubble slopes along reef margins to about 40m depth. Length to 75mm.
