FISH-HOUSE ASSISTANTS (Full time)
Job description

We currently have opportunities in our fish house in Chorleywood for fish house assistants.  Critical to the daily operations of our livestock business., you would be working as part of a very busy team in our modern fish holding facilities.  

General duties include assisting with tank maintenance, feeding, handling livestock and dealing with customers in the fish house.

Although usual working hours will be Monday to Friday (45 hours per week on a shift rota), due to the nature of dealing with livestock, flexibility in hours and some evening and weekend work will be required. The successful candidate should have a keen interest in aquatics, be enthusiastic, hard-working, and eager to learn all aspects of fish husbandry. Full training provided.

Job description

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with an eye for detail to join our team, based in the production department, Chorleywood

This position offers the opportunity to grow within a varied manufacturing environment. The production department of Tropical Marine Centre manufactures and assembles specialist lighting products and filtration products for home aquariums, garden ponds, fish farms and swimming pools. The position of Production Technician is very much a hands on role and the successful applicant will be expected to work alongside the other production staff in all aspects of the day to day operation of our assembly facilities as well as helping with some warehousing and packing duties as required.

Brief Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to take on a varied job role, learning and working in all areas of Tropical Marine Centre’s production operation. Normal duties would range from solvent welding complicated pipework, through to electrical assembly and some PC based equipment commissioning. Working alongside managers as part of a small team or independently under supervision, assembling and testing products and assisting with unloading deliveries, including containers.

Using your own initiative and working to deadlines, this is a unique opportunity to shine within a growing business environment. You will be putting components together to form finished products, which then need to be packaged and made ready for distribution. In some cases, this will include use of power tools to machine plastics (full training provided). Quality control is vital in our business and all employees in our production area are required to maintain the highest standards of work.

Full training will be given in all aspects of this position so this is an opportunity for the successful candidate to acquire new skills in a varied range of assembly jobs. Please note that due to our location the successful applicant should have adequate transport or live locally as public transport to this site is difficult.

  • Some experience of light assembly - lighting or electrical assembly would be advantageous but not essential

Tropical Marine Centre is a world-leading marine livestock wholesaler, one of the largest in Europe, with three sites in the UK, one in Portugal and one in Germany. We also a manufacture and distribute a large range of unique, quality products with several market-leading brands all associated with fish-keeping and animal husbandry.

TMC’s marketing, product development and sales teams work closely together, and are responsible for developing, branding and bringing to market all of the new products we launch each year, including the design of all packaging, marketing materials and POS.  We currently have an exciting opportunity within the marketing team, and we are looking for a uniquely talented individual to fill this position.

Marketing Manager/Graphic Designer

Overview

We are looking for an experienced marketeer, who also has graphic design and layout expertise combined with excellent copywriting skills (meticulous attention to detail with regards to spelling and grammar is vital).  In this role you will manage the marketing activity for the whole company as well as support the product development and sales teams in all phases of product, packaging and marketing communications design.We are looking for someone who can bring creative strength to the team and deliver passion, hard work and expertise in their field. Responsible not just for creating new brands/designs but also for working on new products that fall within existing brands across core products. You will strive for the highest quality solution and understand timing and budget restraints. A good understanding of print production processes is vital as you will be liaising with external print and packaging suppliers.

Fish-keeping knowledge and pet marketing experience is not necessary for this role\but would be advantageous.

Experience/skills in foreign languages would be advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities – General Marketing

•        Management of the marketing schedule/strategy in line with the product development schedule

             •        Management of marketing budget.

•        Attendance at project/sales meetings to understand concepts, timelines and objectives and to communicate project deliverables to the team

•        Present ideas, market research and trends during creative meetings and brainstorming sessions

•        Manage social media activity in accordance with company objectives and marketing schedule – a good knowledge of social media required.

•        Content management/editing including website blog and news databases

•        Project management and budget management of trade show stands (circa 140m2) including liaising with stand builders and other suppliers.

•        Deliver marketing support to Customer Service areas

•        Deliver brand consistency and professionalism across all platforms

 

Responsibilities – Graphic Design/Marketing Communications

•        Content creation/copywriting for all company communications including POS material, press releases, social media, website and packaging.

•        Design of multi-lingual packaging for new products, establishing both new brands as well as ensuring continuity of existing brands.

             •        Logo design. 

•        Production of multi-lingual instruction manuals for all products.

•        Design of all company marketing communications - brochures, flyers catalogues, adverts, posters, POS, as well as banners/imagery for online resources including social media/dealer portal/website and large-scale exhibition graphics.

•        Generation of barcodes for packaging as well as maintenance of barcode database

•        Product photography – to be used for packaging, marketing communications and website.

•        Liaising with translation companies on the supply of translated content for all marketing communications.

•        Liaising and negotiating with print/packaging/OEM suppliers for best price and quality of printed product with shortest turnaround times.

             •        Video production and editing skills desirable

Job description

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Warehouse Manager to join our small dynamic team at TMC Bristol, Europe’s leading supplier of marine fish and invertebrates to the trade.

You will be responsible for the planning, organising and controlling of a small cash & carry operation and building relationships with existing customers. You will be dealing with all aspects of calling customers on site, along with some telephone enquiries.  You will need to have experience of all aspects of warehouse management including goods in, picking and packing orders, stock management and stock control. Knowledge of the Aquatics industry would be advantageous but not essential. This position reports into the General Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Dealing with calling customers, picking and packing their orders
  • Manage all levels of stock control. Goods In, despatch, location management, replenishments and take control over all stock movements according to company procedure
  • Health & Safety compliance at all times in accordance with company policy
  • Maintain housekeeping of cash & carry and surrounding area including regular refreshing of stock displays
  • Manage warehouse layout and space management
  • Checking, testing and logging returned items
  • Take responsibility for the security of the building and stock
  • Improvement and development of cash & carry
  • Implement cost reduction principle where possible in cash & carry
  • Strive to improve all operations according to company’s objectives
  • Maintain records on Health & Safety

KEY SKILLS

  • Fork Lift Truck License (can be trained)

We are looking for someone whose primary responsibilities will be to cultivate and promote communications between the business and its customers. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team are essential for this central role.  This customer centric individual will have a hand on and flexible approach in their work ethic.   This is a unique position offering a varied role within a busy office. The successful candidate needs to be strong on order processing, outgoing, confident and personable for telephone interactions (not hard-core telesales, but more soft sales and customer service-based calls – chasing up on orders, making people aware of promotions, looking for any opportunities to pass to sales team, ensuring back orders are fulfilled)

Ability and experience using Microsoft publisher to produce promotional material and utilise social networking to increase our e-sales is an advantage.

Experience in a B2B environment would be preferred and Aquatic experience would be valuable but not essential as training will be given.
