FISH-HOUSE ASSISTANTS (Full time) Chorleywood LONFH April 24 2018 July 02 2018 Open/Close
Job description

We currently have opportunities in our fish house in Chorleywood for fish house assistants.  Critical to the daily operations of our livestock business., you would be working as part of a very busy team in our modern fish holding facilities.  

General duties include assisting with tank maintenance, feeding, handling livestock and dealing with customers in the fish house.

Although usual working hours will be Monday to Friday (45 hours per week on a shift rota), due to the nature of dealing with livestock, flexibility in hours and some evening and weekend work will be required. The successful candidate should have a keen interest in aquatics, be enthusiastic, hard-working, and eager to learn all aspects of fish husbandry. Full training provided.

PRODUCTION TECHNICIAN (Full time) Chorleywood LONPROD April 24 2018 July 02 2018 Open/Close
Job description

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with an eye for detail to join our team, based in the production department, Chorleywood

This position offers the opportunity to grow within a varied manufacturing environment. The production department of Tropical Marine Centre manufactures and assembles specialist lighting products and filtration products for home aquariums, garden ponds, fish farms and swimming pools. The position of Production Technician is very much a hands on role and the successful applicant will be expected to work alongside the other production staff in all aspects of the day to day operation of our assembly facilities as well as helping with some warehousing and packing duties as required.

Brief Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to take on a varied job role, learning and working in all areas of Tropical Marine Centre’s production operation. Normal duties would range from solvent welding complicated pipework, through to electrical assembly and some PC based equipment commissioning. Working alongside managers as part of a small team or independently under supervision, assembling and testing products and assisting with unloading deliveries, including containers.

Using your own initiative and working to deadlines, this is a unique opportunity to shine within a growing business environment. You will be putting components together to form finished products, which then need to be packaged and made ready for distribution. In some cases, this will include use of power tools to machine plastics (full training provided). Quality control is vital in our business and all employees in our production area are required to maintain the highest standards of work.

Full training will be given in all aspects of this position so this is an opportunity for the successful candidate to acquire new skills in a varied range of assembly jobs. Please note that due to our location the successful applicant should have adequate transport or live locally as public transport to this site is difficult.

ACCOUNTING MANAGER – LISBON LISBON LISBON02 May 10 2018 July 02 2018 Open/Close
Job description

The Role Function:

The function of this position is to support the Financial Director in data analysis, improving and developing corporate management information systems and processing the end-to-end Portuguese accounting processes accurately, ensuring compliance and continuously looking to improve both profitability and efficiency of day-to-day operations and work processes, that will support the accounting activities.

It is vital that this hands on Accountant already based in Lisbon, preferably near our office builds and maintains close links with the UK based Head Office, therefore strong spoken English will be essential.


This is a full-time role, you do not have to be a certified Accountant but strong thorough knowledge of statutory accounting and cost accounting is required.  This role would suit someone who is looking to 'step up' into a senior accounting role.

Main responsibilities:

  • On a daily basis receive, analyse and check primary documents related to specific accounting areas and prepare documents for further processing
  • Verify calculations, check/allocate or correct codes, check or obtain correct authorisation and obtain information for incorrect or incomplete documents
  • Management accounting from A to Z, including year-end closing and possible external audits.
  • Management and Budget reporting according to the reporting guidelines of the group and other forms of financial project reporting.
  • Drawing up financial projections and contribute to the management of exchange risks.
  • Assistance with the invoicing to the client and credit management.
  • Coordination of the intra-group invoicing.
  • Standard BS, P&L and GL output; VAT declarations; Timely submission of yearly tax declaration
  • Work together with our sales team to prepare commercial proposals for new clients
  • Opening and management of local bank accounts and reconciliation of accounts
  • Assisting in the follow-up of bank guarantees.
  • Adherence and management of the local compliance (corporate law, social law, tax etc.).
  • Administrative follow-up of relevant insurance policies.
  • System report writing, design experience and knowledge would be advantageous but not essential.


- Portuguese – mother tongue, English - fluent

- 5-7 years of experience in Portuguese accounting

- Experience in using MS Office and ERP Software

- Flexible, independent and have a sense of initiative and strong business skills.

- Displaying a broad interest in general financial follow-up, with a thorough knowledge of statutory accounting and cost accounting.

- The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor degree in Tax and Accountancy

WAREHOUSE ASSISTANT - HEMEL HEMPSTEAD Hemel Hempstead HH/WH May 17 2018 June 11 2018 Open/Close
Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Warehouse person working full time, to join our small but highly motivated team. Experience of working in a similar environment would be useful but full training can be given. Willingness to get involved, take ownership, and be able to work on your own initiative are also key attributes to be successful in this role.  

Experience of stock control including annual stock take procedures would be an advantage.

Job Role

You will be required to undertake a variety of daily tasks to ensure the smooth running of the Hemel Hempstead depot, which is pivotal to the successful operation of all sites across our business. Once fully trained and competent in key areas, you will be expected to assist, plan, and execute your daily workload to a high standard and work as part of a team. It is important that you are enthusiastic and have a desire to understand our products and business, take on responsibility and go the extra mile when required.

Key Responsibilities

Picking/ packing of site replenishment and customer orders

Checking off and Receiving in Goods/deliveries from our suppliers

Loading/Unloading collections and deliveries

Light Assembly work as required

General Housekeeping

Stock taking
